IT'S A MATTER OF AWARENESS

I was listening to John Lennon’s hit “Imagine” yesterday evening. Aside from the catchy ballad, its music video reminds me of the good old days of solitude and serenity. I could still remember the times where highways can still become a safe place to run around and let loose; abandoned houses can become resting spots for those who are in need of shelter.
But what’s happening now a day is that we are slowly loosing the essence of all good things simple and natural. The fast progression of human life has affected our tendencies of plain living. The development of infrastructures and the vast progression in the rural community serves as an indication that we are in progress. On the other hand, it negates us to a different direction, it cost us our planet’s gradual decline in its resources.
Our industrial lifestyle continuous to evolve, it seeks greater flight in meeting with our material and physical needs. And in a certain degree while we are searching for the gist in living we are unconsciously making a big change in the environment.
While there are hundreds of factories supplying our material cravings a hundred of trees are lost and who knows how many organisms are devoured. It’s a mess up of priorities. Once we take a stand on doing something futuristic it can be anticipated that it also takes a toll on our green resources.
I could still remember the beauty there is in the Pulangui River, but what is made out of the blue clear water is a wasted mud of pure human negligence. How I wish I could bring back the time when stars bring out light and exquisiteness in the night sky, or the cold December breeze that makes us vulnerable to its soothing effect. However, because of the unsolicited acts we have, we brought in light and air pollution into our lives.
It’s good to welcome the future with ideas that just keeps on coming, but let’s not forget to take in consideration the wonder that first catered to our needs. The great thing about nature it’s dynamic, however it knows boundaries. Once we don’t take care of our environment it will trigger an adverse effect and will cause us a tremendous breakdown of available resources.
Let’s take a part in keeping the environment alive again. Let our green thinking overshadow our materialistic thirst and embrace the future with an undemanding lifestyle.
